Our Origin
Hello!Color the Future was born from the lived experience of our founder and CEO, Ms. Janai Pledger, while volunteering in Accra, Ghana from 2024 to 2025.
“I moved to Accra, Ghana in 2024 in hopes of expanding my global perspective and finding new inspiration. While working with the Fafali Organization as a Youth Art Instructor—and later as their Fundraising Coordinator—I saw firsthand the severe lack of funding for the youth arts program. Despite the immense talent and passion of the students, access to resources remained limited. Through their artwork, many of the children shared pieces of their lives and personal stories with me. It became clear how powerful art could be as a way for young people to express themselves and process their experiences.
Determined to support these young artists, I turned to social media to raise funds for student art competition fees and later organized an art auction fundraiser called “Color the Future”. The event supported critical art supplies for a program in urgent need and affirmed the power of community-driven support.
Today, I am building Color the Future, Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating safe, affirming spaces where our communities can heal, create, and grow closer together through art, wellness, and accessible programming.”
Why Do Arts and Wellness Matter?
The Problem
Too many people today are carrying a quiet but heavy weight.
Social, economic, and political stressors, combined with the pace of modern life, have left many feeling overwhelmed, burned out, and disconnected. The USA is experiencing a growing mental health crisis, and in a world that moves faster every day, it has become harder to find spaces to slow down, reflect, and reconnect with ourselves and with one another.
Youth are rarely given spaces that nurture agency, emotional awareness, and confidence in their own voice. Many grow up navigating stress, social pressure, and uncertainty without tools to process their emotions or develop healthy ways of expressing themselves.
Adults frequently carry the strain of stress, financial pressure, and emotional fatigue without tools for reflection, healing, or creative self-expression. Many young adults navigating early independence feel isolated as they search for direction, stability, and community.
When people lose connection to creativity, community, and their own sense of agency, the result can be isolation, anxiety, and a diminished sense of possibility.
People need accessible spaces where they can heal and grow in supportive community environments, places where they can process stress, express themselves creatively, and build meaningful relationships with others who are committed to growth.
Color the Future exists to build those spaces.
Our Solution
At Color the Future, we create accessible, welcoming spaces where young people and adults can reconnect with themselves and their community, express their creativity, and build confidence and life skills. When wellness resources are scarce and life pressures feel overwhelming, people need support that is practical, empowering, and rooted in community.
Our programs are designed to meet these needs by combining:
• Holistic wellness practices – mindfulness, stress reduction, and emotional regulation practices to help participants navigate life with balance and clarity.
• Creative exercise – visual art, music, writing, and other forms of self-expression that foster agency, confidence, and personal growth.
• Community building – inclusive, supportive spaces where participants can meaningful connections, learn from one another, and experience belonging.
• Goal achievement support – structured programming for young adults paired with accountability partners, providing guidance, consistent check-ins, and tools to reach personal, educational, and career goals.
By blending wellness, creativity, community, and structured support, Color the Future provides safe and empowering spaces where people of all ages and backgrounds can heal, grow, and thrive.
